Useful Information

We organise holidays for hundreds of holidaymakers to Mexico each year and we know the area and the hotels extremely well. If it is your first visit to Mexico you will be delighted with this beautiful part of the country and in particular with the friendly welcome the local people provide. What follows is some useful advice that we find helps people to make the most of their Mexico holiday but please feel free to call us if you require particular information.

Arrival at Cancun Airport
If we have arranged a transfer for you please make your way through the airport to the outside (Cancun airport is not running completely due to the 2005 hurricane). We will advise you who your local ground-handlers are and you should make your way to their representatives who will be holding placards. Ignore local taxi-drivers who may claim to be from the operator unless they hold a placard with the company name on it - they are usually touting for business and call various names out loud until they provoke a response. They are not a threat, just be firm with them.

Currency
Our advice is to carry a mixture of Mexican Pesos and US Dollars - both are widely used. We also advise holidaymakers to use a mixture of travellers cheques and credit and debit cards. ATM's are available in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and other larger resorts as well as in some large hotels.

Health & Hygiene
This is good in Mexico (certainly in the resorts we offer) and many hotels provide 24 hour medical attention - although this is not free it should be covered by your insurance. Cleanliness is good but some upset tummies are to be expected mainly due to the spiciness of the food and the different bacteria present in Mexican food to ours in the UK. Its a sensible precaution to take with you some form of tablets or medicine from the UK to protect against such tummy upsets. You should also speak to your doctor regarding immunisation and other issues before travelling to Mexico or any other tropical countries.

Departure Tax
When leaving Mexico there is a departure tax payable at Cancun airport when you check-in. Please ensure that you allow for this cost which is around US$45 at the moment.

All-inclusive
Most of our accommodation is all-inclusive which covers food and drink and many activities. Please be aware however that certain activities will fall outside this and some restaurants may charge premiums etc. Please ask if you are in any doubt as to what is included in your holiday.
